I’m back with more tips on blogging that the Guru’s forget to tell you…
In my previous post, I shared…
Today, we’re going to continue with a few more tips that you need to be well aware of about how blogging really works.
Are You Blogging to Simply Sell a Product or to Brand YOU?
Whichever type of blogging style that you choose is fine. There are certain types of blogs where there is little to no interaction with the readers. These are the equivalent of “mini-sites” where you’re promoting a specific type of product. For example… You can create a mini-site (or in our case a niche blog) for weight loss. The sole purpose of this blog is to market a particular product. The blog will also include additional related products that those looking to lose weight would be interested in. In this instance, there’s very little interaction with those who visit. So you know… this is not the type of blog we’re talking about in this post.
This post is about your hub. Your hub is your main blog that you’ve created to develop your brand online.
Your hub, or headquarters acts as any other offline business. It’s where people walk through the doors to see what you have that they may be interested in. If you had an offline store, you would interact with the customers that walk through the door. The same goes with your blog.
The Misconception of Successful Blogging With Just Content and SEO
It’s a fact that you need good content and back-links to get higher search engine rankings for your blog, but that only gets your foot in the door. What makes a blog truly successful is the relationships that you develop and the networking that’s connected to your blog.
Let’s start by talking about your content. Your content could be some of the best writings around. It may even be 100% optimized for the search engines, but did you know that all of your hard work could still result in a total flop?
The most important thing for your blog is that people who are truly interested are able to find that great content. As powerful as search engine traffic is, more powerful is when you have built relationships with people who are following everything you write. The way to make that happen is to network, network, network!
If just one of your blog posts gets just one tweet or share from a popular blogger, the effects to your business could be extremely substantial. It all boils down to association and how you’re perceived by the community. Fair or not… people will perceive you as a greater authority withing your niche simply by your association with a blogger who’s already established. All of a sudden, you’ll start to see other opportunities opening up to you that will give you that ‘break’ into becoming an authority in your niche.
The point of this post is to stress to your the importance of becoming a ‘real person’ to your readers.
What the Guru’s forget to tell you is that it takes more than just writing consistently on your blog. You MUST create community and loyalty with your readers. After all… they’re ‘real people’ too! People like doing business with people.
So as you dive into the business of blogging, especially if you’re blogging for money, remember that money comes from people. Without their vote and endorsement, the money will never come. So in your blogging process, be sure to network and create a real community with your readers.
